Vacation Countdown!

I finally did it!  I've been wanting to make a countdown for our family to have for the various vacations we take throughout the year.

~This particular countdown is for California!~

Super simple.  While at Home Depot one day, I bought a 4x4 post....I figured I would cut it up into square blocks for various projects.  And thanks to my wonderful miter saw, I was able to cut out all my blocks.

I then spray painted everything brown.  I then cut out some fun summer-ish scrapbook paper & mod-podged it onto the blocks.

And then I headed over to my Mother's house & used her cricut to cut out some vinyl for the numbers & sayings.

I'm so excited!  My kids are beyond excited for this particular vacation :)

St. Patrick's Day Blocks

I love having crafty friends!

A bunch of us girls wanted to make the same set of blocks, so once again {like my LOVE blocks} we pooled our money, bought some wood & vinyl & got crafting!

Here is how my blocks turned out:

The blocks come from a 2x2, and was cut into 4 different lengths.  I spray painted my blocks green, and then got some sparkly cardstock paper & mod-podged that on.  Once dried, I applied my vinyl.  And then, as those blocks sat finished by my computer, I had the thought to put some ribbon to the black, and hang them up on my door {because the Valentine Decor needed to go, and I've liked having something there}.

Not bad eh?

Happy Valentines Day!

In honor of the holiday today, I'm showing off a decoration I made a couple weeks ago....

It's been great to have something cute hanging around our house!

These were super simple to make as well.  If you've got a 2x4, some scrapbook paper, and some paint, then you're set!

A bunch of my friends decided that we all wanted to make this same block set, so we pooled our money & had one person cut the vinyl & another cut the wood.  So, for under $3, I made this.  I love crafts like that!

Madison's Toddler Bed

I am finally done.

This project goes to show how much of a procrastinator I am.

A project that should have taken me 2 weeks to do {generous amount of time}, has taken me a little over 4 months to complete.

But look at this end product:

She is a happy girl.  I am a happy Momma.

6 Months ago, it was decided that we would make Madison a toddler bed.  She's so petite that buying another set of bunk beds kind of seemed silly.

I love Ana White's site and her free furniture plans.  When I decided to make Madi a bed, I went to her site and printed off these plans.

The plans were easy enough because I did this project all.by.my.self.

I bought the wood.  I cut the wood.  I put the bed together.  I filled holes.  I sanded the bed.  I primed the bed.  I painted the bed.

We decided to paint the bed a chocolate brown.  It matches her room, and would be safe for any future children {because we thought about painting it pink to match her bookshelf}.

It's kind of weird seeing my little girl in her "Big Girl" bed.

But I'm so happy that I did it.

Halloween Countdown Blocks

So, last week over at Talented Terrace Girls 

{Ya know, that other blog that I contribute too}

Emily posted a fun Halloween Craft.  Now, I don't have any sort of Halloween decorations, and these seemed like something easy that I could make.  And guess what???  There were a couple other gals from around the neighborhood who thought the exact same thing :)

So yesterday, the gals got together, and we made some Halloween Countdown Blocks.

But where was I???  Stuck at home with a very tired little girl.  I figured it was best to let her sleep & de-grumpify herself, than suffer the wrath later that night.  I did however send my boys over to pick up the supplies so I could at least paint the wood.  Here's how mine turned out:

I didn't follow everyone else now did I ;)

I had some leftover Key Lime Spray Paint, which totally looks Halloweenish, and I thought it would pair well with the black & orange papers that I chose.

I also didn't put a paper behind "Days til Halloween" because I wanted the Green color.

Endless possibilities on this one.  This is such a easy project that you could totally substitute Christmas for Halloween {I would, but I already have a Christmas Countdown}

Roman Numeral Anniversary Board

I love it when I follow through on stuff.

A couple weekends ago, I came across THIS, and immediately pinned it.  It's something that I haven't seen, and I thought it would look cute somewhere in my house.

It was fairly simple to make.

1. Cut board to desired length
2. Paint Board desired color
3. Make stencil {I made mine using contact paper}
4. Paint words
5. Find spot in house to hang

 Ummm, yeah.   I haven't followed through on step number five....I really have no idea where to put this gem.

So I started carrying the board around the house to figure out where it needed to go.  I thought about putting it on the dining/kitchen wall with some of our engagement pics....

Which would be ok....but I don't know.

And then I took it over to our family picture wall.

I would have to rearrange some pics to make it fit.

I've also realized that I desperately need new family pictures....I'm working on that.

There's also another spot where I've got engagement pics.....

But, it would have to go over the doorway to fit....

And then of course, there's our blank wall.   But I kind of like it blank.

What I really need to do is get a wedding picture printed and framed up, to go with the anniversary date.

Until I figure it out, it'll just hang out here, and confuse the crap out of people :)
