Microwaved Pineapple Upside Down Cake

If you remember from a previous post, my brother is stationed over in Okinawa, Japan, and unfortunately does not have a kitchen.  He does however, have a microwave.  My sweet friend Tiffany {from Simply Complicated} sent me some recipes for microwaved cake to try out.  Tonight, my husband wanted something sweet {he wanted to make a cake...but I didn't want to have a huge cake around considering Turkey day is just 2 days away} so I told him that I would try out these recipes.

They worked.  You must be warned though...do not expect cake cake {like what you would get out of the oven}; my husband said it was more custard-ie.  I like it...my husband ate it...all of it.

So here it is:

Microwaved Pineapple Upside Down Cake

 In a bowl, add 4 T of flour & 4 T of sugar

Add an Egg, 3 T of Milk, and 2 T of Oil

 Then add some vanilla....since this was just a plain cake {no chocolate}I think I added somewhere between 1-2 tsp of the vanilla.
 Mix it all together.
In a coffee cup {that's been sprayed}, line the bottom with cherries {I had some marichio cherries in my fridge} and a pineapple ring.

 Pour in your batter.  Cook it in your microwave for 3 minutes.

 Not the prettiest thing....but like I said, my husband ate it; and it tasted good.

So if there ever come a time in your life that you need to make a dessert using the microwave, give this a try.

Enjoy!

Felt Turkey Finger Puppet

As I mentioned in my previous post, I am the PTA room Mom for my son's kindergarten class & the PTA is in charge of their Thanksgiving party.  This is a craft that I found off of Skip To My Lou that I thought would be fun {and easy} for these kids to make.

I used the 9" x 12" felt sheets to cut out the feathers & the turkey bodies.  For the feathers, I cut out squares of 3" x 12" and then made a template {like triangles at the top} to cut them out {because I had to cut out alot of feathers}.  For the bodies, I took my finger and made a template, and then rounded out the top.
 Step 1: Take 2 Turkey bodies
 Step 2: Place a line of glue {I used tacky-because that's what the kids will use-but you can use hot glue} around the outside.
 Step 3: Put the two pieces together
 Step 4: Take your feathers and glue them onto the back of your Turkey

 Step 5: For the nose, I just cut out small triangles & then glued it on
 Step 6: Glue on 2 googly eyes
Wah-La.....A Turkey!

Oreo Turkeys

I am the PTA room Mom for my son's kindergarten class.  One of the parties that we're in charge of is the Thanksgiving party.  I searched the internet and found some cute craft ideas & food projects; this particular food craft caught everyone's attention at our planning meeting { I found it here}.

It was really simple to make, so I'm hoping that these 5-6 yr olds have an easy/fun time as well!

Enjoy!

Bubble Pizza

Ahhh....Nothing like a Friday night.....and Pizza.

My kids love pizza....I like pizza....but sometimes I don't feel like standing around a hot oven cooking pizza or spending money buying pizza.  This is where Bubble Pizza comes into play.

This meal is another simple recipe.  It is also a meal that can be made ahead of time {like earlier in the day}; which is what I did.

What to give it a try???  Here's the recipe:

Bubble Pizza
 Real simple ingredients:
2 Cans of Biscuit Dough {I happened to have these jumbo sized ones, but I think the best kind are the generic-because they're smaller}
Cheese
Pepporoni {or any other Pizza toppings}
Sauce {you can use pizza sauce, spaghetti sauce, whatever.  I used my tomotoe sauce I have mixed up.}
 In a greased 9 x 13 pan, lay out your biscuits.  Noticed how I was able to get 12 whole ones in this pan.  I then started cutting up the remainder of the biscuits and stuffing them in the holes.
 Spread your sauce all-over.
 Add your pizza toppings; in my case Pepporoni.
 Layer on some cheese.  I used cheddar cheese & then decided to sprinkle it with some parmesan cheese.
 Before I wrapped it up in foil, I decided to sprinkle it with some Basil.
Wrap the top with foil & either: A. put it in the fridge and let it sit; or B. heat the oven to 400 degrees and let it cook for 30 minutes; then take the top off and cook it for another 10 minutes.
 Ooohy, Goohy Cheesy goodness!

 Cut it up & Enjoy!
My kids give their approval  :)
