Crunchie Munchies

My brother is stationed overseas.  He's missing homecooked meals & goodies from home.  I would love to be able to ship these yummy goodies over to Japan, but I don't think they would make the week-long trip; plus I think they would melt.  So, I adapted this family recipe {a dessert that tops my list} for him to make it only using a microwave {because that's all he's got}.

You can most certainly use your stove in melting the chips; or make it like I did.  I also halved the original recipe to fit my 8x8 pan-didn't want to have extra treats around {I am watching what I eat ;) }.

So here you go.......

Crunchie Munchies
6ozs Butterscotch Chips
1/2 C Peanut Butter
4 C Rice Krispies
6oz Chocolate Chips
2 T Butter
2 T Water
1/2 C Powdered Sugar

Put the Butterscotch chips & Peanut Butter in a microwave safe bowl.  Melt in the Microwave 30 seconds at a time {you don't want anything to burn}; stir after every 30 seconds.

Throw in the Rice Krispies
Mix until incorporated
Put half of the mixture into a greased 8x8 pan & chill.
Meanwhile, in another microwave safe bowl, add the chocolate chips, butter & water
Microwave for 20-30 seconds at a time; stirring everytime.
Stir in the powdered sugar.
I noticed that when I stirred the sugar in, I needed to nuke one more time for about 10 seconds.  You want to have the sugar incorporated into the chocolate.

Take your pan out of the refridgerator and spread the melted chocolate over top.

Add the rest of the Rice Krispies
Chill in the refridgerator again.
This is important because you want everything to set-up; you want to be able to cut into it and not have it fall apart.
This is what your finish product should look like:
Enjoy that yummy peanut-buttery chocolately goodness!
